Photography helps me look more deeply at the world around me: it leads me in seeing the relation of things, the beauty of the natural world. My photography is primarily concerned with landscapes. Unlike sports photography, landscapes don’t move all that much which affords me the time to work through different camera settings on the same shot. I can set up my equipment and wait for the light to shift into a sunrise or sunset or unmask a hidden beauty beneath the shadows. I also like to take photos of birds, as birding is a somewhat recent interest of mine. When out on walks with my camera, I often take pictures of the dogs I meet along the way. So that’s about it: landscapes, birds and dogs. None of them ever complain that their eyes were shut or their smile was strained or that the picture added ten pounds.
